Anodes are used in the steel industries to melt raw materials. Anode coke consists of solid raw materials that are processed, formed, and burned into granular dry matter by grinding, sieving, and mixing. The widely distributed coke particles are mixed with pitch and sintered in corresponding geometries. The fine material is produced in the horizontal or vertical mills and fills the spaces between the coarse particles. An optimal size distribution of the fine material ensures a high bulk density of the sintered body and thus prevents premature “tearing” of the electrodes during operation.
